There are four different types of tabs available. Click on the very right
side of the ruler, where you see an object that looks like an upper-case
L. It changes to an upside down T, then to a backward facing L, then to
an upside down T with a period (or decimal point symbol) beside it. These
are you 4 different tab choices in Word 97.

The task1.doc ruler with tabs as required
in your timed exercise.
-
You will use the upside down T, with a decimal point to its right. Place
that at the 3 inch mark on the ruler, by clicking on the ruler. The new
ruler and its tab setting is now in effect for all the selected
paragraphs. Now when you press the tab key, the numbers will move over to
the 3 inch mark.
-
You will use the backward L to right-justify the names that come after the
numbers. Click on the ruler at the 5.5 inch mark, with the backward L tab
selected (and all the paragraphs you want to have that new tab marker
selected too). Press tab key before each name, they will magically be
right aligned at the 5.5 inch tab.
